Alexander Cobb may be sidelined by an injury these days with the Tampa Bay Rays, but the star pitcher still found himself right in the heart of the action Wednesday at All Children's Hospital.

Cobb and infielder Logan Forsythe, along with team mascot Raymond, paid a visit to dozens of All Children's patients Wednesday morning to pass along good wishes, sign autographs and lift spirits any way they could. For Cobb, it marked a return visit and was as rewarding as always.

"It never gets old coming here," said Cobb, who has been out with a strained oblique since early in the season. "In all the things we get to do being in pro baseball, being able to come here and brighten somebody's day is by far the best thing that goes along with our jobs.

"They get excited no matter what, just seeing us wear a jersey in there and somebody telling them who we are - they really enjoy it," he added. "Whenever you can make a kid smile, it's real enjoyable."

Remarked Forsythe, in his first year with the Rays: "It's great. We come here because we can. The opportunity's there and it's easy to help put a smile on a kid's face, so why not do it? It humbles you really quickly. And it's nice to be brought back down a little bit. It helps us remember the excitement of what it was like being kids and seeing ballplayers - that's what it was all about."
