A large herd of colorfully dressed Chick-fil-A Cows invaded All Children's Hospital on Thursday, July 11 in preparation for Friday's Cow Appreciation Day. The cows arrived on a pirate ship float to the delight of patients and families. This is the third year in a row the cows have visited the hospital.

Along with Chick-fil-A team members, the cows visited patient rooms and distributed plush cow toys for patients and tasty Chick-fil-A sandwiches for hospital staff.

Many of the cows also roamed the hospital lobby and corridors giving employees and visitors a chance to get a coveted cow photo.

Darian, a 7-year-old patient from Bradenton who was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, was greeted by one of the 8-foot tall cows who entered his room as he was getting ready to be discharged. "He was pretty surprised when that happened," said his mom, Kendra. "He thought that was pretty cool. What a neat way to end our stay."

"We're a community-based business and All Children's is a community-based hospital, so this visit is a great fit for us," said David Neely, owner of the 4th Street Chick-fil-A store in St. Petersburg. "It's great to see the love the children have for the cows and it always seems to bring a smile to their face."
