The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner/Cardiology Physician Assistant is an advanced registered nurse practitioner/physician assistant who demonstrates expertise in the clinical management of pediatric cardiology patients. The practitioner role is multi-faceted and includes clinical management, educational responsibilities, administrative duties, consulting, and initiating/implementing research. The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner/PA works in collaboration with medical, nursing, and support services to provide family centered care. The practitioner maintains active participation in his/her own continued education and professional development. The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner/PA works cooperatively with other nurses who focus their duties within the Cardiovascular Service line to include, but not limited to, CV Surgery Nurse Practitioner, Heart Transplant Coordinator and Cardiovascular Case Manager. The purpose and focus of their cooperative efforts will be continuous improvement of the clinical and operational aspects of the pediatric cardiovascular service line.
Current licensure in the State of Florida as a registered nurse/advanced registered nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Current national certification as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
Minimum of 5 years work experience as an RN/PA with at least 2 years in a specialty area of pediatric nursing.
Maintains BLS and PALS certifications.
Expert clinical, written and verbal communication skills.
The cognitive ability to safely administer medications.
Physical ability to perform all aspects of patient care, including CPR, on all patients ranging in age from neonate to adult.
Read/write/speak and understand English.
Auditory and visual ability to assess and provide nursing care.
Ability to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, ancillary and support staff.
Ability to effectively manage within an environment of emotional and physical stres
