In 1983, Mr. Stanley Matthews organized the Greek Children's Fund at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York City to aid needy Greek children and their families who were undergoing treatment. Since its inception, the Greek Children's Fund has helped more than 7,000 families with temporary housing, transportation, medical equipment needs, and miscellaneous expenses. In addition, the Fund expanded its reach to Schneider Children's Hospital on Long Island.
Today, the Greek Children's Fund of Florida is partnering with All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg to serve all children and their families receiving care at All Children's Hospital who are in need of non-medical day-to-day assistance. By helping to pay rent, providing money for food, purchasing a wheelchair or other equipment, or paying for much needed medicines, the Greek Children's Fund of Florida offers a ray of hope to families going through difficult times while their child is in the hospital. Through special events and individual philanthropy, the Greek Children's Fund of Florida will continue to grow and meet the needs of families for years to come.
All Children's Hospital thanks the Greek Children's Fund of Florida and everyone who contributes to the Fund for their thoughtful support and generosity, for making a difference in the lives of sick children and their families.
